Rheumatic complaints or joint pain should not be taken lightly and should therefore by no means be put on the back burner. Those who seek medical treatment within the first three months after the onset of symptoms improve the chances that the disease will not become chronic. Therefore, respond in a timely manner to your body’s signals, such as stiff fingers or joints in the morning, sleep interruptions due to joint or back pain, swollen joints, fingers or toes in general, recurring unexplained joint pain, muscle weakness.

Inflammatory rheumatic complaints doctor
The cause of rheumatic complaints can often be inflammation. The immune system “shoots” against its own body in the background. Joints, tendons or even internal organs can be affected. Most often, this manifests itself in so-called rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Metabolic rheumatic complaints
Some rheumatic complaints such as osteoporosis and gout are caused by metabolic disorders. In osteoporosis, it is bone metabolism, the bones become unstable and prone to fracture. Deformed bones and vertebrae can lead to the famous hunchback. In gout, the metabolism of uric acid is disturbed. Often, but not always, inflammation precedes a metabolic disorder. Regular health check-ups and blood work can help detect symptoms early.

Degenerative joint and spine diseases
Degenerative joint diseases are not of inflammatory origin, as the causes are often wear and age-related and the cartilage between the joints has degenerated. In advanced arthrosis, the cartilage is damaged over a large area.

However, the course of the disease can be positively influenced, as further degradation can be reduced and the body’s self-healing powers can be activated.

Chronic musculoskeletal pain
Chronic pain often occurs in the joints and spine, especially in the back. However, there is also complex musculo-skeletal pain, known as fibromyalgia. Patients complain of severe generalized muscle pain associated with extreme tenderness. Complaints that affect the entire muscular system of the body. For the diagnosis, comprehensive examinations must be made, and above all other inflammations, thyroid diseases or a vitamin D deficiency must be excluded as causes of the disease.
