Urology is a medical specialty that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the urinary tract in men, women and children and the male reproductive organs. A physician who excels in in-depth expertise, empathy in dealing with patients, and individualized treatment planning can help her patients in many areas of urology.
The broad spectrum of urological services includes cancer screening and tumor follow-up of prostate, urinary bladder and testicular carcinomas, as well as treatment of stone disease, benign prostatic enlargement, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, male infertility, enuresis, phimosis and undescended testicles.
Various examinations, such as ultrasound and laboratory tests, as well as andrology, are used for diagnosis. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to treat urologic conditions, such as the removal of kidney stones or the prostate. The work of a urologist requires extensive training and knowledge in various areas of medicine, including surgery.
Urologic exams and treatments can be uncomfortable or even embarrassing for many patients. As a urologist, it is my personal ambition to approach my patients with empathy and understanding and to accompany and support them in the best possible way.
